LARKANA: Experts on the other day warned of health risks and advised common people to limit time spent in harsh sunlight as province is poised to experience some of the hottest weather conditions in the coming days.
During the consultation and mobilization workshop held at Sambara Hotel, Larkana jointly organized by Pahel Pakistan and LHDP in collaboration with START Network under title “Anticipatory Actions for Heatwave Hazard” which attracted by large number of participants from Rescue 1122, Health Department, Social Welfare Department, Revenue Department and others.
While addressing Fahad Ali Baloch, ADC-II, Larkana, Raja Darya Khan Qureshi, Assistant Commissioner, Larkana, Shoukat Ali Abro, District Health Officer, Iftikhar Ahmed Bullo, CLO, Rescue 1122, Shafiq Mahesar, Deputy Director, Social Welfare Department Larkana, Iqbal Hyder, ED, LHDP, Iftikhar Nizami, Program Advisor, LHDP, Qaisar Azam Soomro, LHDP, Bashir Ahmed, Pahel Paksitan, Ajiz Mirani, Pahel Pakistan and others said that heatstroke, which occurs when the body temperature rises to 104°F (50°C) or higher due to prolonged exposure to high temperatures or physical exertion in the heat, can affect the badly to the people adding it was always important to act immediately and cool down the body of a heatwave victim, he or she is affected.
They said that if a person has suffered heatstroke than he or she should be taken to a cold place and not allowed to work, even if they seem to recover,” adding that people should pour water on their head in such a case, they added.
The participants have also discussed possible way outs of implementation and extended their support to the LHDP & PP, Meanwhile UHIs area of Larkana, strength and area of improvement of Rescue 1122, Health Department, and other concerned stakeholders was also discussed.
