Executive Committee Reposes Trust in FPCCI President Irfan Iqbal Sheikh is Legitimate and Duly-elected President Resolution Further Demands Removal of DGTO

Karachi (PR): The Executive Committee of FPCCI has passed a resolution unanimously reposing trust and confidence in his leadership and the emergent meeting was attended by all FPCCI offices from across Pakistan. The resolution read:

“WE, ALL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEMBERS OF FPCCI, UNANIMOUSLY HEREBY GIVE CONSENT AND SUPPORT WITH ALL AUTHORITY TO MR. IRFAN IQBAL SHEIKH, PRESIDENT FPCCI, FOR HIS OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTION & SERVICES FOR THE BUSINESS COMMUNITY OF PAKISTAN DURING HIS CURRENT RUNNING TENURE. WE ALSO ENDORSE THE ASSIGNMENTS, DECISIONS AND THE ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN BY THE PRESIDENT AND OTHER OFFICE BEARERS OF FPCCI WITH THE APPROVAL OF EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE OF FPCCI TIME TO TIME. WE, ALSO HAVE CONFIDENCE AND SUPPORT TO PRESIDENT FPCCI TO CONTINUE THEIR WORK UNTIL DECEMBER 2024. THE DGTO SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM HIS POSITION AND LEGAL ACTION TO BE TAKEN AGAINST HIM”.

To further elaborate the resolution, executive committee members made the following assertions:
(i) all significant decisions pertaining to FPCCI have always been taken with the due consent of the executive committee during the entire ongoing tenure without an exception. Additionally, the executive committee authorized the President to take decisions in routine matters of FPCCI in its very first meeting.
(ii) executive committee rejects and reprimands the most unfortunate call to arrest its president; who represents the collective leadership of all 250 chambers, associations and trade bodies of Pakistan – both domestically & internationally.
(iii) Mr. Irfan Iqbal Sheikh is the legitimate, valid and duly-elected president of FPCCI as the result of a transparent, free and fair elections of the apex body.
(iv) executive committee reposes its full trust and confidence in the able, honest and committed leadership of Mr. Irfan Iqbal Sheikh as their elected president.
(v) Furthermore, DGTO should be immediately removed from this important position vis-à-vis administration of trade organization across Pakistan and necessary legal action should be initiated.

Mian Anjum Nisar, former President FPCCI, expressed his shock and awe at the unethical, bona-fide and disgraceful campaign against the dignity and honor of the apex body; and, an institution of national & international significance. This has never happened before; should not happen again and a wrong precedent should not be set for the sake of our generations to come; hence, the rival group should withdraw its allegations and support the institution – irrespective of personalities.
