Skardu/Shigar/Nager, Oct. 8, – The Excise Police launched a comprehensive operation in various areas of Gilgit-Baltistan, targeting public transport vehicles and rent-a-car services.
The operation, conducted at the Excise Check Post, ensured:
– Route permits and fitness certificates were verified.
– No overcharging by transport companies.
– Action against vehicles with:
– Fake number plates
– Tinted glasses
– Unauthorized torches
– Colorful windows
– Unregistered vehicles
– Token tax evaders
In one instance, a rent-a-car service was forced to return Rs. 5,000 to passengers for overcharging.
The Excise Police set up checkpoints in District Shigar’s Lamsa area to enforce these checks, prioritizing public safety and preventing illegal activities on the roads.
This crackdown aims to maintain law and order, ensure public safety, and promote responsible transportation practices in Gilgit-Baltistan.
