A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cooperation between Audio-Visual Council of Lebanon (CNA) and Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) was signed in Beirut during a ceremony held at CNA office. The MoU aims to foster friendly relations and cooperation between the two regulatory bodies of Pakistan and Lebanon.
Representing the Lebanese side, H.E. Mr. Abdul Hadi Mahfouz, President of the National Audiovisual Council of Lebanon, and H.E. Mr. Salman Athar, Ambassador of Pakistan to Lebanon, inked the document on behalf of PEMRA.
While speaking on the occasion, H.E. Mr. Abdul Hadi Mahfouz expressed optimism that signing of the MoU would forge strong and sustainable ties between Pakistan and Lebanon. He highlighted cordial relations between the two countries and emphasized on significant benefits that would arise from effective collaboration in the field of electronic media of both issues.
Ambassador Salman Athar, during his remarks, congratulated both sides for signing the MoU. Pakistan and Lebanon are two brotherly countries and share common values, He underscored mutual support on various regional and global issues. The Ambassador elaborated the main objectives of the MoU, emphasizing the establishment of a mechanism to enhance communication, exchange experiences and sharing information in the field of electronic media.
On this historic agreement, Chairman PEMRA, Muhammad Saleem Baig expressed his gratitude to H.E. Mr. Abdul Hadi Mahfouz for his initiative and bringing both the organizations on mutual cooperation. He urged that this MoU would give impetus to the media industry and would straighten cordial relations between the media entities of two countries. The exchange of information mechanism as well as the experience between both regulatory bodies would facilitate in understanding/adapting new trends, techniques and strategies in the media industry of both the authorities.
