DIGITAL PUNJAB: CM MARYAM NAWAZ SHARIF INAUGURATES PILOT SATELLITE INTERNET FOR SCHOOLS PROJECT

A new digital Punjab of the new era, a pilot project has been launched to provide satellite internet in schools. Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif inaugurated the pilot satellite internet project at DPS Model Town. A UAE delegation headed by Sheikh Ahmad Dalmouk Al Maktoum was also present at DPS Model Town. The CM also had conversation with the female students at DPS Digital Lab. In Punjab, the schools will be linked with satellite internet in collaboration with One Web Neom and ADM Holdings. ADM Holdings will collaborate with the School Education Department for Satellite Internet Installation.
CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif met Sheikh Ahmed Dalmouk Al Maktoum, a member of the royal family of the United Arab Emirates. In which matters pertaining to provision of satellite internet and digitization were discussed. The delegation gave a briefing on the program for providing direct internet service from a satellite in schools and apprised that the Schools Satellite Internet project is meant for providing digital access to the people of deprived areas. In the first phase, satellite internet is being provided to 5,000 schools across the country.
The Chief Minister said, “Punjab is entering into a new digital era. Students in remote rural and urban areas will be provided facility of satellite internet. A new era of digital transformation in education has been launched in Pakistan. The Punjab government will also provide laptops to the students along with satellite internet. Digital skills will help empower students to become part of the digital economy. Pakistan can tread on the path of progress with the help of information and communication technology.”
Sheikh Ahmad Dalmook Al Maktoum while speaking on the occasion said, “Complete assistance will be provided in the provision of satellite internet service in schools and in remote areas of Punjab. There is a need to impart training about latest technology and learning skills for the better development of young talent. It is heartening to become a part of satellite internet project in Punjab. Teachers and students can acquire internet benefits through plug-and-play technology. We are keen to continue our collaboration with One Web Neom and contributing our part in its success.” An MoU was signed between UAE company ADM and LDA for extending collaboration in property registration ownership change and digitization.
Senator Pervez Rasheed, Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Provincial Ministers Azma Zahid Bokhari, Rana Sikandar Hayat, Chief Secretary, Information Secretary and other officers were also present in the meeting.
