Deputy Speaker summons QESCO
chief after members strongly react
over power load shedding crisis

QUETTA: The Deputy Speaker Balochistan Assembly, Sardar Babar Khan Musakhail has summoned the Chief Executive Officer of Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO) over the power load shedding issue at 03:00 PM on Monday (today).
Actually it was the budget session of provincial assembly, which was resumed on Sunday afternoon. However, on a point of order, raised by the MPA Nasrullah Zairay, the members strongly reacted over the power load shedding crisis in Quetta and other parts.
Mr. Zairay pointed out that worst ever load shedding of electricity is being observed in Quetta these days.
He said that the people are suffering due to the lengthy power load shedding in the severe cold weather.
He requested the chair to summon the QESCO chief and ask him as why the duration of power load shedding has been increased?
He also pointed out that the Customs tams are conducting raids in the markets of Quetta and thus exceeding the authority.
He also urged the Deputy Speaker to call the Collector Customs on the issue.
The leader of Opposition Malik Sikandar Khan Advocate and MPA Qadir Nayal also endorsed the point of Nasrullah Zairay pointing out that the power load shedding has become a matter of routine in Quetta with no exception to his constituency.
Malik Sikandar also urged the chair to summon the QESCO chief over the issue and speak to him about the crisis.
Meanwhile, the assembly approved the supplementary grant of over Rs. 37 billion for the current financial year 2022-23. The Provincial Minister for Finance, Zamarak Khan Achakzai presented the motions about supplementary grant.
Later, the session was adjourned to meet at 04:00 PM today (Monday).
