NASIRABAD, AUGUST 24
Independent Report.
Following the forecast of the upcoming monsoon spell, Deputy Commissioner Nasirabad, Munir Ahmed Kakar, inspected the Pat Feeder Canal and Rabi Canal to assess their condition. He also visited the Baidar Pul and observed the distribution of irrigation water.
Accompanied by PA to Deputy Commissioner Nasirabad, Manzoor Sherazi, and Patwari Babu Ghulam Rasool Buzdar, the Deputy Commissioner was briefed by Sub-Divisional Officer Amanullah Gajani on the breaches in the Pat Feeder Canal and its sub-branches.
Deputy Commissioner Munir Ahmed Kakar directed the officials to take precautionary measures before the next monsoon spell, including reinforcing the canal system and its sub-branches. He emphasized the need to strengthen the canal’s embankments, especially at vulnerable points, to withstand the increased water pressure during monsoon rains.
He ordered that the embankments of the Pat Feeder Canal from FC Camp to Baidar be reinforced with waterlogging material, and the rain cuts on the outer side of the canal be filled. He stressed that proactive measures are necessary before the next monsoon spell, as the water pressure on the canal system and its sub-branches increases significantly during monsoon rains. Therefore, it is essential to further strengthen the canal system’s embankments, particularly at vulnerable points.
