ISLAMABAD, :Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon, to combat the rising dengue fever cases, has ordered anti-dengue teams to carry out dengue spraying and fogging key areas of the city, including the buildings of Supreme Court, Election Commission, PM Secretariat and NADRA Headquarters.
DC Memon also directed officials to improve sanitation arrangements in different areas of the city to prevent dengue and to launch an awareness campaign among the people about anti-dengue measures.
He further emphasized the need to spray dengue in schools and colleges of Islamabad.
In a statement, the ICT spokesman Dr Abdullah Tabasum said that the Deputy Commissioner has assured that all possible resources will be used to control the deadly virus in Islamabad.
He added that the rural area of Islamabad is among the top priorities of the administration and every possible step will be taken to protect the lives of the citizens.
Deputy Commissioner Islamabad’s timely action is a welcome step in the fight against dengue fever. It is important for the public to cooperate with the authorities and take all necessary precautions to protect themselves from this deadly disease.
Talking to APP, medical expert Doctor Attiya Karim Khan said that the dengue fever is a mosquito-borne viral infection that can cause flu-like symptoms, such as fever, headache, muscle and joint pain, and nausea. In severe cases, dengue fever can lead to life-threatening complications, such as hemorrhagic fever and dengue shock syndrome, she added.
Dr Attiya further said that there is no specific treatment for dengue fever, but early diagnosis and supportive care can help to improve the prognosis.
She said that, the best way to prevent dengue fever is to avoid mosquito bites. This can be done by using mosquito repellents, wearing long sleeves and pants, and using mosquito nets when sleeping.
Dr Attiya urged the public to take following precautions to protect themselves from dengue fever: use mosquito repellents, wear long sleeves and pants, use mosquito nets when sleeping, remove stagnant water from around your home, keep your home clean and tidy, seek medical attention immediately if you experience any symptoms of dengue fever.
