Karachi: Specific directions were received from Director General Customs Intelligence Faiz Chadhar to carry out anti-smuggling operation in major dumping places of smuggled goods. Accordingly, Yousuf Goth, the largest dumping place of smuggled goods in Karachi was identified and kept under surveillance through the staff of Customs Intelligence, Karachi as well Sindh Police. It was learnt that huge quantity of smuggled goods are present in gowdown on 100 feet road in cover of school building at Yousaf Goth. A joint anti-smuggling operation was planned with the support of Pakistan Rangers, Sindh, Commissioner, Karachi Salim Rajput, DIG South, Asad Raza, SSP South Arif Rao.
A team comprising of Deputy Director and Superintendent Anti-Smuggling Organization of Customs Intelligence, Karachi was constituted which raided the target premises in morning hours with the help of Rangers and Police. Huge quantity of smuggled goods (list attached) which were recovered and brought to the Directorate of Customs Intelligence in 16 loaded trucks. The approx market value of these goods has been ascertained, as Rs. 250 million approx. FIRs is being lodged against the smugglers. Further investigation is underway to reach out to the planners, financers at executors behind smuggling of these goods. ‘This is the first successful anti-smuggling operation in the no-go area of Yousuf Goth. The Director General Customs Intelligence Faiz Ahmad Chadhar appreciated the effort and urged the officers and staff of Customs Intelligence, Karachi to make more efforts to curb the menace of smuggling in the region. The Directorate in the month of September 2023 has made 24 no of cases valuing more the Rs. 800 millions. The Directorate of Customs Intelligence appreciate the efforts and support of Pakistan Rangers Sindh and Sindh Police who are providing all the possible efforts & support for curbing the menace of smuggling.
