QUETTA: The rain emergency has been enforced in all local councils of Balochistan in view of the continuous intermittent rains.
The rain emergency has been enforced by the Local Government department, as announced by its administrative secretary, Noor Ahmed Pirkani on Thursday.
The emergency has been enforced to mitigate any unforeseen situation owing to forecasted rainfall spell issued by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Balochistan.
According to the Secretary Local Government, all the chief officers and other concerned high ups of the department have been directed to remain alert to tackle any emergent situation in view of the rains continued in the province.
The Secretary also directed to the chief officers to ensure their presence at their respective stations and extend close coordination and cooperation with their respective district administration.
They have also been directed that all the necessary machinery / equipment be made readily available. In case of any damage / loss of life and livelihood the same may be reported the Balochistan Local Government Board along with pictography report on immediate basis.
Meanwhile, a control room has also been established in the Local Government department, Civil Secretariat Quetta.
The control room would monitor the situation and coordinate with the concerned quarters during the emergent situation.
Needless to mention here is that the intermittent and in some areas, torrential rains hit most parts of Balochistan province especially Makran division including Gwadar.
