CONSTRUCTION OF RAWALPINDI RING ROAD TO BE EXPEDITED: CHIEF MINISTER

Lahore,  : “Rawalpindi Ring Road to be Completed by December 2024”, said Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif during her first visit to Rawalpindi after assuming charge of the post early this week, in order to review progress of work on the under-construction ring road project. She added, “quality of work and deadline of the project will not be compromised. All efforts would be made to complete the project before deadline,” Madam Chief Minister also said, “Construction of industrial zones would [rove ‘Game Changer’ for Rawalpindi, as they would generate employment opportunities for the locals.
Earlier the Chief Minister was briefed by NESPAK, PMU and FWO teams that work on the ring road project started in September 2023. 24% work has been completed. After the completion of road, adjoining buildings on both sides of the road would be constructed by February 2025. All structures on the way of the proposed road have been removed, shifting of utility services on the right of way is under process. It was further briefed that there are 05 interchanges, 11 over passes, 02 rivers, 06 riverine, 01 railway bridge, 15 sub ways and 53 culverts on Rawalpindi Ring Road. One Rest Area would also be constructed along the road. Inter changes on Rawalpindi Ring Road would be named after the names of adjoining villages. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said,” Ring Road is vital for the easy mobility of city-dwellers.
Former Senator Pervaiz Rashid, members Provincial Assembly, Marrium Aurangzeb, Sania Ashiq, Chief Secretary, Respective Secretaries, Commissioner Rawalpindi and other Officers were present in the briefing.
