Nokkundi: Complete shutdown strike was observed in against Barrick Gold management in Nokkundi.
The shutter down strike was followed by the protest demonstration led by Tehreek-e-Ittehad-e-Naujawanan and Anjuman-e-Tajiran. All small and large markets remained closed, causing difficulties for citizens to buy daily essentials. Members of the Tehreek-e-Ittehad-e-Naujawan and Anjuman-e-Tajiran, including President Wahid bakhash Sherzai lodged protest in the local market.
The leaders from various political parties, including BNP, National Party, Baloch Student Action Committee , Jamaat – e- Islami , Tehreek-Labaik ya-Rasullallah, Anjuman-e-Tajiran, Christian community leaders, expressed solidarity with the protesters.
The Tehreek-e-Ittehad-e-Naujawanan organized protest rally against Barrick Gold management, led by District Member Khan Altaf Sanjrani, Sardarzada Waheed Ejbadi, Sardarzada Zulfiqar Sherzai , and other youth.
The rally started from the market and ended at London Road, where speakers, including Jahangir Baloch, Sardarzada Waheed Ejbadi, Muhammad Jan Mahb, IftikharBaduzai, Sardar Zada Ahmad Ali Burhanzai, and Azam Baloch, addressed the protesters. They said that the Reko diq project is in Nokkundi, but the doors of employment are closed for the local youth. The concerned company should soften its policies and provide employment to the local people. They alleged that for the past six months, the Reko diq management has allegedly been deceiving the local youth and hiring people from other provinces, while the educated youth of Nokkundi are being ignored.
They announced that we will expand the protest movement and block the national highway if the demands were not met.
