Islamabad: According to media reports, Colonel Retired Lyaqat, the right-hand man of General Faiz Hamid, has been taken into custody. Sources say that during Imran Khan’s tenure, Colonel Lyaqat, General Faiz Hamid’s trusted aide, used to control the Senate and National Assembly from his large office in Parliament House. He was a master of all trades, from passing budgets to bills, chairing Senate elections, and even installing secret cameras in the Senate. Everything happened at his behest, and all assembly members waited for his signal.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif, among other politicians, has previously spoken out about Colonel (R) Lyaqat’s political role.
