CM MOHSIN NAQVI INAUGURATES SHAHDARA FLYOVERS PROJECT

Shahdara flyovers have been completed in less than 6 months and opened for traffic instead of 10 months, due to Mohsin speed. Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi has inaugurated Shahdara Flyovers today. The completion date of the project was fixed for the month of March, but due to continuous visits of CM Mohsin Naqvi, the flyovers have been opened for traffic 4 months earlier. Dual lane flyovers have been constructed consisting of three lanes and 850 meter long are linked with the Shahdara main GT Road and N5. The cost of the project is worth Rs. 8 billion 90 crore. CM said that Shahdara flyovers will resolve the long overdue traffic problem on the main entrance and exit routes of the city. More than 3 lac vehicles per day will be benefited from Shahdara flyovers. Millions of rupees will be saved with regard to precious time and fuel of the citizens. Shahdara flyovers will be beautified through plantation and landscaping. CM while addressing the inaugural ceremony of Shahdara Flyovers Project said that Shahdara Flyovers project started approximately 5 months ago and it has been opened for traffic today. After taking over the government in the second month, the issue of Shahdara project came under discussion. There were many issues in the design of this project. We took a decision in consultation with the Cabinet that Shahdara flyovers project work would only start after solving the design problem of the flyovers. We halted the work on Shahdara flyovers project and got the design of Shahdara flyovers rectified and then started the work. Mohsin Naqvi apprised a bridge was being constructed to travel from Sheikhupura to Ravi which was of little advantage. There was a strong likelihood of traffic jam on the Ravi Bridge, that’s why we have decided to build Ravi Extension Bridge. The work on piles testing is in progress. Hopefully that Ravi Bridge will be built in 60 days. CM informed that 3 lac vehicles will be benefited from Shahdara flyovers in a single day. Projects were being done in every area of Lahore, Shahdara was being ignored but I am sure that after the completion of Ravi Bridge, Imamia Colony Bridge and Bund Road, the appearance of this area will change. With the completion of various projects, the Shahdara area will not be less than Gulberg. It is our solemn promise with the people of Shahdara that a beautiful plantation will be done surrounding the project after few days. Inshallah such beautiful flowers will be planted as are planted in the posh areas of Lahore. Shahdara will not be less than any other developed area. CM said that I congratulate all the people who completed the work of 10 months in less than 6 months. I thank the Provincial Ministers, contractors, DGLDA, district administration, journalists community and other concerned authorities adding that Lahore Police and Lahore administration also deserve congratulations. I am thankful the media persons who accompanied us for the visit 10 to 15 times. Whether it was day or night, the entire team worked hard with diligence due to which the project was completed in less than half of the time. InshaAllah Imamiya Colony bridge will be opened for the public on December 15th. I express good wishes for everyone, concluded CM Mohsin Naqvi.
