Lahore, : Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif met the Foreign CommonWealth & Development Office delegation in which the need for making collaboration in six sectors was agreed. A comprehensive briefing was given on the health, education, social protection, air quality, local government and revenue mobilization waste management sectors. A roadmap with regard to issues being faced by the health, education and other sectors along with their resolution was reviewed. CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif said, “We are providing state-of-the-art health facilities in every district of Punjab. 80 percent free medicines in the OPD and more than 90 percent in the emergency are being provided. The Punjab will be the first province to launch a free ambulance service. A durable and self-reliant system is being formulated in 153 tehsils of Punjab. An authentic data is being chalked out for Punjab through ‘Social Economic Registry Project.’ Reforms are being introduced in the industry, transport, agriculture and municipal management so as to overcome environmental pollution hazards. We will not enhance the tax rate and are reviewing the process to extend its scope. Transparency and implementation is being ensured through ‘Third Party Monitoring and Verification System.’ We will not allow plastic usage and want to give a secure Punjab to the new generation.” The British High Commissioner Jane Marriott lauded the vision of CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif and appreciated the Punjab government’s steps being undertaken about environmental affairs. FCDO delegation comprised Development Director Jo Moir, Clara Strandhoj Head of Lahore Office, Senior Officer Naveed Aziz and others. Senator Pervez Rashid, Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Provincial Minister for Information Azma Zahid Bokhari, Provincial Minister for Health Khawaja Imran Nazir, Provincial Minister for Finance Mujtaba Shuja ur Rehman, Provincial Minister for Local Government Zeeshan Rafique, Provincial Minister for Education Rana Sikandar Hayat, Assembly Members Nausheen Adnan, Sania Ashiq and Secretaries of various departments were also present in the meeting.
