CM inaugurates Bedian Road Underpass project, opened for traffic in just 70 days instead of 6 months
Lahore, : Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi today inaugurated the Bedian Road Underpass which was completed in the shortest period in Pakistan. Corps Commander Lahore Lt Gen Syed Amir Raza was also present. Bedian Road underpass was completed in just 70 days and opened for traffic. The completion period of the Bedian Road underpass was 6 months. The project has cost 2 billion 10 crore rupees.
Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi said that the completion of the Bedian Road underpass will facilitate the movement of 120 thousand vehicles per day. The opening of the underpass will provide immense convenience to the residents of Bedian, Cantt, Defense, adjoining areas and the citizens of Lahore.
Provincial Ministers Azfar Ali Nasir, Amir Mir, Mansoor Qadir, Bilal Afzal, Ibrahim Hasan Murad, Secretary Housing, Secretary Information, CCPO, Commissioner Lahore Division, Deputy Commissioner, Nespak, CBD, contractor and others were also present.
Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, while addressing the opening ceremony of Bedian Road Underpass, said that Corps Commander Lahore Lt Gen Syed Amir Raza, Provincial Ministers, the entire team of LDA, Lahore administration, Nespak and DHA etc deserve accolades for the completion of this project. Everyone thought that it would take 5 months, if not 6 months, to complete the Bedian Road Underpass. This underpass is part of the corridor under which the journey from Liberty to DHA’s main office will be reduced to just 15 minutes.
The Chief Minister said that there was an impression that DHA is a separate city from Lahore, this impression will be removed with the construction of this underpass. LDA, Nespak, DHA and the contractor worked day and night as a team to complete this underpass in record time. The project was being worked on until late at night, and the company’s owner and managers were working late into the night. I visited the underpass at one o’clock in the night and the contractor was there. He said that the Cavalry Ground and Ghora Chowk projects will also be completed within 30 days.
Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi said that there were many issues with these two projects which Corps Commander Lahore Lt Gen Syed Amir Raza took personal interest in and resolved. Corps Commander Lahore Lt Gen Syed Amir Raza has given endless support in these two projects, for which we thank him from the bottom of our hearts. These are not the projects of the Cantt, but the projects of the whole of Lahore and these projects will benefit the whole of Lahore. Bedian underpass was completed in 70 days, there were rains and obstacles but Alhamdulillah this project was completed in record time. Our team has completed this project together, we hope that the other ongoing projects will also be completed in the same way. The financing of the project has been coordinated and completed by the Punjab Government and DHA, he added
