CM expresses anguish over illegal trawling in Balochistan; orders stern action against those elements involved

QUETTA: The Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti has expressed anguish over the illegal trawling in the province and ordered to take stern action against those involved in the illegal fishing process.
The Chief Minister was presiding over high level meeting about preparations of the national meeting of Inter-Provincial Coordination here on Thursday.
Those who were present in the meeting were included: the Advisor to Chief Minister for Labour and Manpower, Sardar Ghulam Rasool Umrani, Parliamentary Secretary for Fisheries, Mir Barkat Rind, Parliamentary Secretary IPC, Ms. Mina Majeed Baloch, Chief Secretary, Shakeel Qadir Khan, Secretary Fisheries, Javed Anwar Shahwani.
Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister expressed anger over the illegal trawling in the province. He regretfully pointed out that our own people are involved in illegal trawling.
He said that what was done in the past by the previous government, we have to stop that devastation. He said that our national resources and coast are damaging due to the illegal trawling.
He noted with concern that our resources were looted ruthlessly. He asserted that the future of new generations is being destroyed just for the short time financial benefit.
He said that different institutions are established for prevention of the illegal trawling, but their performance is not satisfactory.
He said that the fisheries department has emerged as major department for last eight to ten years in the province. But no sold mechanism was introduced for prevention of the illegal trawling in the province, which strengthened the mafia. However, action would be taken against those involved in plundering of the resources, adding he asserted.
He issued standing directives to introduce modern monitoring system for prevention of the illegal trawling.
