QUETTA: The Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti had crucial meeting with the Federal Minister Planning, Ahsan Iqbal in Islamabad on Tuesday in order to resolve the issues of agricultural tube wells in Balochistan.
During the course of meeting, it was decided to start work on the measures for converting the 29,000 registered agricultural tube wells of the province on solar energy as an alternative solution.
It was informed during a briefing conducted by the Power Division, there are more than 11,000 illegal agricultural connections in the province too.
However, there was also discussion on the supply of electricity to the agricultural tube wells in the meantime till their solarization. The Power Division was also talked in this regard.
speaking on the occasion, Federal Minister Planning told that the Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has directed to resolve the issues of Balochistan on priority basis.
The Chief Minister Balochistan offered the measures for restoration of electricity in the province on behalf of the provincial government.
The Federal Minister Energy Owais Ahmed Leghari requested the Government of Balochistan to work together for prevention of the power pilferage.
Mir Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti invited Federal Minister Energy to visit Balochistan and assured him of best cooperation in this regard.
The Chief Minister assured that the campaign would be started afresh against prevention of theft of electricity in the province.
Meanwhile, it was decided that a committee headed by the Chief Secretary Balochistan, Additional Secretary Finance and Secretary Power would work to prepare a viable mechanism with couple of days.
