Chief Minister Balochistan tells World Bank’s delegation:

QUETTA: The Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti has stated that his government is taking measures to cope with the challenges of good governance, energy and climate change in the province.
He said that we are desirous of working on the sustainable strategy in collaboration with the international and national institutions.
He said that we fully support the World Bank’s 10 year programme, and adding hoped that the long-term programme would bear positive results.
The Chief Minister was speaking to the delegation of World Bank who called on him under leadership of its Director in Pakistan, Mr. Najy Benhassine here on Wednesday.
The World Bank delegation apprised the Chief Minister about the assistance projects being continued in collaboration with the Bank in Balochistan.
During the course of meeting, there was also discussion on the mines and minerals as well as fisheries, agriculture health and rehabilitation of flood affected people in the province.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that work is continued on education, health and rehabilitation of the flood affectees.
He said that it is a difficult challenge for us to provide basic facilities to the scattered population in remote areas of the province.
He also said that we are going to convert the agricultural tube wells on solar energy in the province in a bid to rid of the energy crisis.
He said that the provinces have utilized their available resources after passage of 18th amendment.
Referring his government’s initiative regarding soft term loans, the Chief Minister said that we are considering to offer soft term loans for development projects for development of basic infrastructure in remote areas of the province.
The Chief Minister mentioned that around 1.3 million children are out of the schools in Balochistan. Citing the reasons behind, he said that the distances between the schools and population are very long and there’s no arrangement of the means of communication and transportation, he added.
However, we are working on provision of food to the students and ensuring their access to the schools, he mentioned further.
The delegation of World Bank praised the endeavours of Chief Minister for establishing good governance in the province and made pledge of assistance of the international and national investors for investment in different sectors in the province.
