CHIEF ENGINEER CONDUCTS DETAILED VISIT OF QUETTA URAK RIVER

QUETTA, AUGUST 24, (Independent Report)

Under the directives of Secretary Irrigation, Hafiz Abdul Majeed, Chief Engineer Quetta Zone, Engineer Bashiruddin Tareen, along with Superintendent Engineer Qurban Ali Jatoi and SDO Engineer Ajmal Khan, conducted a detailed visit of Quetta’s Urak River. On this occasion, Chief Engineer Bashiruddin Tareen said that this inspection visit was arranged to assess the damages caused by the recent heavy rains in Quetta and its surrounding areas, including other districts.

He stated that a detailed inspection of the Urak River was carried out to assess the damages caused to people’s homes and agricultural lands due to the recent flood. He said that the entire infrastructure, including roads, water supply pipelines, and bridges, in the surrounding areas of Quetta, especially in the Hana Urak area, has been severely damaged. Orchards, which were directly affected by the floodwater, are also at risk of further erosion in future floods, and immediate action is necessary. Meanwhile, the department is fulfilling its professional responsibilities within its limited resources.
