Chairman Railway, Muzhar Ali Shah, has directed the railway administration to upgrade two new trains on the pattern of Green Line in the financial year 2024-25 and increase facilities for passengers in all trains. He was chairing a high-level meeting at Railway Headquarters in Lahore on Wednesday. Muzhar Ali Shah said that Pakistan Railways has implemented a SAP system for transparency in financial matters. All officers will have to be aligned with new technology to bring further improvement in the organization. The meeting also reviewed the railway’s procurement plan and repair and maintenance plan in detail. The Chairman Railway directed that fire extinguishers be ensured in all bogies of all trains at all times for the safety of passengers.
He said that everything used in trains should be standard and durable. The Chairman Railway directed the formation of a standard policy for periodic overhauling and effective monitoring of coach repair and maintenance. Muzhar Ali Shah also reviewed the progress of the Kohat Thal Parachinar Khurramabad project and directed the consultant firm to present the project’s financial model and action plan within four months. Later, the Chairman Railway visited the Carriage Shop at Mughalpura and inspected the coach preparation process. The Chairman Railway directed the authorities not to compromise on safety and ensure the highest standard of facilities in coaches.” In essence, the Chairman of Pakistan Railways has ordered the upgrade of two trains, increased facilities for passengers, and emphasized safety and transparency in financial matters, while also reviewing various plans and projects.
