Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee to meet for Muharram moon sighting in Quetta today

QUETTA: The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is scheduled to meet for the sighting of moon of Muharramul Haram here in Quetta on Saturday (today).
The sighting of Muharram moon would also mark the commencement of the new Islamic year
According to the programme, the Chairman Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, Maulana Abdul Kbabir Azad would preside over the meeting of committee to be held at Deputy Commissioner’s complex here.
All the members of Committee from different parts of the country including Balochistan would also be participating in the meeting.
Besides, the representatives of Meteorological and other concerned departments would also be attending the meeting.
Simultaneous meetings will also occur in major cities including Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore, and Peshawar, conducted by respective zonal committees.
The sighting of the Muharram moon is critical as it determines the start of Muharram, which is expected to begin on July 8 this year in Pakistan. Accordingly, Youm-e-Ashur (Day of Ashura) is anticipated to be observed on July 17, falling on Wednesday.
