Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Ethiopia, H.E. Demeke Mekonnen, earlier this morning met with the Caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan, H.E. Anwar ul Haq Kakar on the margins of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos-Klosters in Switzerland.
They discussed mutual engagements at various levels including the highest levels of respective governments to further strengthen bilateral and multilateral cooperation. By citing the fact that Ethiopia opened its Embassy in Islamabad recently, DPM and FM Demeke reiterated Ethiopia’s commitment to consolidate Ethio-Pakistani ties.He also mentioned that Ethiopia will work towards diversifying its engagements with Pakistan including trade and investment.
Caretaker Prime Minister Kakar, on his part stated, by capitalizing on the positive momentum from the commitment of the governments of Pakistan and Ethiopia to boost relations, his country will work to strengthen ties in the areas of trade, investment, skills transfer as well as people-to-people relations. The Embassy of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan was officially inaugurated on 11 May 2023 while Ambassador Jemal Beker is the first Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary.
