Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal, emphasized that increasing exports is the only way for Pakistan to achieve economic growth. He was addressing the 28th Textile Asia International Trade Fair 2024, organized by the Pakistan Readymade Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PRGMEA), at the Expo Center Lahore on Saturday.
Iqbal highlighted that Pakistan has vast resources and capabilities, but needs to focus on production, quality, and innovation to enhance competitiveness, profitability, and economic growth. He mentioned that around 550 companies from seven countries participated in the expo, and stated that the purpose of such trade fairs and exhibitions is to promote a country’s exports.
The minister stressed that promoting exports is essential for economic growth as it will strengthen the Pakistani rupee and reduce the country’s reliance on loans. He also emphasized the need for Pakistani businesses to focus on research and development to enhance their products’ quality and competitiveness in the global market.
