A meeting was held at the Leada Conference Hall in Hub, chaired by Senator Rubina Khalid, Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP). The meeting was attended by Coordinator to the Chief Minister for Industries Mir Ali Hasan Zehri, Deputy Commissioners, and other officials.
The Director-General of BISP, Naveed, briefed the chairperson on the program’s progress in Balochistan, where 43 tehsils and 158 sub-tehsils have operational BISP centers. Over 2 million deserving individuals in Balochistan are benefiting from the program, with Rs. 20 billion being distributed among them.
However, it was noted that the lack of internet access in remote areas of Balochistan and the non-issuance of birth certificates and B-Forms are hindering the majority of deserving individuals from benefiting from the program. The chairperson was also informed that 18 out of 25 satellite vans are operational in 18 districts of Balochistan.
Senator Rubina Khalid termed the BISP program a “ray of hope” for the deserving people of Balochistan.
