Karachi, August 4, 2024: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has announced a major development for Karachi on the occasion of Youm-e-Shuhada Police. He revealed that funds have been released for the Karachi Safe City Project, with Rs 3 billion and 67 crore allocated for the first phase.
Under the Safe City Project, 1300 modern cameras will be installed at various locations, and facial recognition cameras and automatic number plate recognition systems will be set up at 40 toll plazas across the province. The CM said that the modern system will help prevent crimes and ensure the arrest of culprits.
He added that significant steps are being taken to rid Karachi of crime and suppress criminals. He praised the Sindh Police personnel who have sacrificed their lives to maintain peace and law and order, saying that their bravery and courage are a source of pride.
The CM was speaking at a ceremony to mark Youm-e-Shuhada Police, where he paid tribute to the Sindh Police’s sacrifices. He said that the Sindh Police’s martyrs have played a crucial role in maintaining national security.
