BEST CLEANING SYSTEM & MODEL CIVIC SERVICES WILL BE PROVIDED IN PUNJAB: CHIEF MINISTER MARYAM NAWAZ SHARIF

“A sustainable system of cleaning every street, neighborhood and road will be implemented in Punjab,” said Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif while chairing a meeting on solid waste management in the province. She directed the authorities concerned to present a model mechanism of solid waste management at the earliest. Madam Chief Minister added,” Apart from the new sanitation system, up to 125,000 new jobs will also be created.”
Madam Maryam Nawaz Sharif rejected the proposal to impose sanitation tax on farmers. However, she agreed to the proposal to outsource sanitation system in the province. She also sought a detailed plan for the construction of 23 proposed landfill sites in the province, and directed to review the installation of waste segregation plant in every division.
Madam Maryam Nawaz Sharif said,” I will visit villages myself to review their sanitation system.” She added,” In the villages, the local community will be engaged in monitoring the performance of the cleanliness drive, and to get the streets and neighborhoods cleaned.” A proposal to form local community committees to ensure the provision of sanitation facilities to the people, along with a proposal to set up Waste Management Companies in Sahiwal and Sargodha were given a go-ahead in the meeting. Madam Chief Minister said,” We will bring a sustainable and effective sanitation system in Punjab.”
Madam Maryam Nawaz Sharif highlighted,” Cleanliness will not only improve the environment but would also reduce diseases and pollution.” She added,” During my visit to Lahore, many streets were difficult to pass through due to accumulated mud and dirt.”
Former Senator Pervaiz Rashid, Provincial Minister Local Government and Community Development Zeeshan Rafiq, MPA Sania Ashiq, Chief Secretary, Secretary Transport, Finance, Local Government and Community Development, Special Secretary Local Government, Commissioner Lahore, Deputy Commissioner Lahore, Chief Executive Officer Lahore Solid Waste Management Company, Expert Dr. Kamran, Solid Waste Management Expert Ahsan Beila and other relevant officers attended the meeting.
