QUETTA: The Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti has regretfully pointed out that the commitments made by the world community for rehabilitation of the flood affected people of the province were not fulfilled yet.
He said that Balochistan had suffered the loss of US$ 1.6 billions due to the previous rains and floods.
The province had also been suffered the most due to the climate change.
The Chief Minister stated so while participating through video link in the meeting of Chief Ministers of all provinces on climate change chaired by the Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Friday.
Besides him, the Advisor to Chief Minister for Environment, Naseemur Rehman and Secretary Environment, Nadeem Khan were also present.
While endorsing the stance of Chief Minister Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah regarding formation of consultation committee, the Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti stressed that consultation of the provinces is necessary for decision and policy making about climate change so as to form the national policy and guideline for coping with the challenges of climate change.
Besides, the proposed fees structure should be decided on basis of requirements of the provinces so that it is acceptable to them, he added.
The Chief Minister said that the provincial government would follow the guideline to be decided with mutual consultation to cope with the challenges of climate change.
