Balochistan affecting badly due to impacts of climate change

QUETTA: The Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti has stated that the province has been affected badly due to the impacts of climate change, however, we are working to cope with the challenges remaining in the available resources.
The Chief Minister said that coping with the challenges of climate change is also included in top priorities of the incumbent provincial government.
Mir Sarfraz Bugti was addressing the UN-led climate conference organized by the Ministry of Climate Change in collaboration with FDI Pakistan at the Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS) on Tuesday.
The Coordinator of Prime Minister for Climate Change, Ms. Romina Khurshid Alam, Chairperson of Senate’s standing committee on Human Rights, Ms. Samina Mumtaz Zehri, Provincial Minister for Education, Ms. Rahila Hameed Khan Durrani, representatives of the United Nations and civil society besides the faculty members and students of the BUITEMS.
The Chief Minister categorically stated that there is no role of Balochistan in the causes of climate change, however, it is affecting due to the situation very badly.
He said that we would propose sustainable measures to tackle the situation under public-private partnership.
He asserted that cutting of forests on the commercial basis is an offense and as such stern action would be taken against those involved in it.
He said that the climate change is a very big challenge and as such the provincial government would work to cope with it together with all the stakeholders and aid institutions.
