QUETTA: The candidate of Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) and ally parties, Asif Ali Zardari secured in all 47 votes from the Balochistan’s provincial assembly on Saturday.
The Sunni Ittehad Council’s candidate Mehmood Khan Achakzai didn’t get any vote from the assembly.
The Chief Justice of Balochistan High Court, Mr. Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan, who performed as Presiding Officer for the presidential election, made the announcement after the polling process.
The polling for presidential election was conducted at the provincial assembly. The Chief Justice of Balochistan High Court, Mr. Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan, who has been elevated as the judge of Supreme Court of Pakistan.
While the time of start of polling was fixed as 10:00 AM, however, the first vote was cast around 15 minutes after the scheduled time.
The process of polling and vote casting remained continued till 04:00 PM. PPP’s MPA, Ali Madad Jatak performed as the polling agent of Asif Ali Zardari.
At the outset, over …..members of assembly including Chief Minister, Mir Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti, Speaker Balochistan Assembly, Abdul Khaliq Achakzaki, Deputy Speaker, Ms. Ghazal Gola and other members belonging to PPP, PML-N, National Party and Awami National Party cast their votes in the presidential elections.
Mir Ali Madad Jatak was the first among members of assembly who cast vote in the provincial assembly.
The members of JUI-F, Jama’at-e-Islami, Haq Do Tehreek and BNP-Awam boycotted the proceeding of polling for presidential election.
All 15 members of four parties didn’t turn up for casting votes in the House. It may be mentioned here that there are 12 members of assembly belonging to JUI with one each of JI, HDT and BNP-A in the provincial assembly.
Additional security arrangements were made on occasion of the polling for presidential election in the provincial assembly.
