Mian Iftikhar Hussain, President of Awami National Party’s (ANP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter, has strongly criticized the federal government’s decision to ban Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement (PTM), calling it a violation of democratic values [1).
Hussain, a seasoned politician and former provincial information minister, emphasized that PTM’s peaceful gatherings are a constitutional right ¹. He argued that the ban would only exacerbate the issues faced by Pashtuns.
The government’s move to ban PTM is unjust and undemocratic,” Hussain stated. “We will continue to support PTM’s peaceful struggle for Pashtun rights.”
As a senior leader of ANP, Hussain has been vocal about Pashtun rights and has advocated for social justice and democracy ². Under his leadership, ANP has been a strong advocate for PTM’s demands.
