CHARSADA. SEP. 21.
Aimal Wali Khan, Central President . of Awami National Party (ANP), criticized the judiciary’s history of backing military rule in Pakistan. He emphasized the need for parliamentary supremacy and judicial independence.

Khan pointed out that whenever parliament faced attacks, the judiciary and defense institutions collaborated, undermining democracy. He urged democratic forces to establish parliament’s supremacy through constitutional amendments.

Khan condemned the current government’s secretive attempt to introduce amendments, which would have made life difficult for ordinary citizens. He advocated for free judiciary within constitutional limits.

ANP has consistently demanded constitutional courts. Khan cited past Supreme Court decisions, including supporting dictatorships under the PCO (Provisional Constitutional Order), as reasons for reform.
