An extraordinary session of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly

An extraordinary session of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly was held here today with Speaker Chaudhry Latif Akbar in the chair.The special session, which was convened to express solidarity with the people of Indian occupied territory of Jammu and Kashmir, was attended and addressed by the caretaker prime minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Mr. Anwar ul Haq Kakar. On this occasion, Speaker Chaudhry Latif Akbar, while welcoming Prime Minister Kakar, said that his address to the special session of the assembly has been a great morale booster for the Kashmiris living on both sides of the LoC.Akbar said that the state of Pakistan, Pakistani people and respective governments have always supported Kashmiris and their legitimate struggle for self-determination. He regrettably noted that Kashmiris have suffered enormously under the India’s occupation, barbarism and brutality for the past 76 years.He said that purpose of Kashmir Solidarity Day was to demonstrate solidarity with the people of the Indian occupied territory of Jammu and Kashmir, who, he said, were fighting for their political and democratic rights guaranteed to them by the international community.He said that the Prime Minister Kakar’s presence in the house and his speech would send a positive signal on the other side of the LoC. On this occasion, the participants of the session offered Fateha for the martyrs of Kashmir and the martyrs of Pakistan Army and late Begum Soraya Khurshid, the wife of the former president of Azad Kashmir, KH Khurshid who passed away recently.
