Project Director Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) IESCO, Mohsin Raza Gilani, provided a detailed briefing to print media representatives, highlighting the project’s main objectives, progress, and long-term benefits for IESCO/consumers and national grid. During the briefing, P.D AMI mentioned that modern technology, like Advanced Metering Infrastructure, will play a key role in upgrading the electricity distribution system, improving billing and payment processes, controlling electricity theft, enhancing bill collection, providing high-quality services to consumers, and determining electricity supply and demand. Mohsin Raza Gilani informed that the installation of AMI meters is rapidly progressing in IESCO in two operational circles, Rawalpindi City and Rawalpindi Cantt and 130,000 AMI meters have already been installed. Responding to questions from media representatives, Mohsin Raza Gilani stated that this project is undoubtedly a revolutionary step towards improved customer services and reforms in Pakistan’s power sector.
