QUETTA: The Provincial Election Commissioner, Ejaz Anwar Chohan has pledged to play wholehearted role for ensuring free, fair and peaceful general elections in the province. He assured that all the political parties would be provided level playing field. Moreover, the political parties and their candidates would also be equally treated.
The PEC said that we would call Pak army if needed, in addition to the Police, Levies and Frontier Corps (FC).
The newly appointed PEC was speaking to the media after addressing the returning officers at their training session conducted at a local hotel on Sunday.
The PEC maintained that he has met the Inspector General of Police, who has informed that the situation happens to be quite difference in Balochistan as compared to other parts of the country.
He said that the distances are more between the areas in Balochistan, however, we would perform our responsibilities well despite all the challenges.
The PEC said that women are important part of our society, as such we would urge the masses to ensure casting of their votes in the upcoming elections.
Referring the training of ROs and DROs, the PEC said that the basic objective behind the training session is to get acquainted to them about making the elections process transparent.
He said that it is responsibility of the ROs and DROs to implement the rules and laws about conducting elections in their respective areas of jurisdictions.
He asserted that no negligence would be tolerated in the upcoming general elections.
He said that the training sessions are being conducted in Quetta, Loralai, Khuzdar and Sibi.
In all 67 ROs are attending training for the national and provincial assemblies’ constituencies.
Meanwhile, the training session would also remain continued today (Monday). After completion of ROs’ training, the training of DROs would be held on December 19, 2023.
During the training session, the ROs and DROs would also be administered oath about their responsibilities.
