Islamabad, July 31, 2024 – Ahsan Iqbal, Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, addressed a seminar on “CPEC: Opportunities and Challenges” organized by the Institute of Regional Studies (IRS) in Islamabad.
The seminar highlighted the strong cooperation between Pakistan and China, with IRS President Juhar Saleem noting that Ahsan Iqbal’s participation was a testament to the growing partnership between the two countries. Ahsan Iqbal emphasized that the Pakistan-China friendship has strengthened over the past seven decades, with cooperation in various fields, including the launch of a communication satellite in May this year.
Ahsan Iqbal also highlighted Pakistan’s sacrifices in the war on terror, stating that the country had faced 16-28 hours of load shedding in 2013 and had hosted over 3 million refugees from Afghanistan, providing them with free shipment. He contrasted this with the US policy of not allowing Mexican migrants to enter its borders.
The seminar discussed the opportunities and challenges arising from the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and the need for effective cooperation to overcome obstacles and achieve mutually beneficial goals.
