ADMIN OF 36 DISTS SPENT OVER 1.78 BN IN MAY TO RESOLVE 363 COMPLAINTS REFERRED BY THE OFFICE OF THE OMBUDSMAN PUNJAB
Lahore, July 9:
Following the orders of Ombudsman Punjab Maj (R) Azam Suleman Khan, the district administration, across all 36 districts of the province, has undertaken various repair and maintenance tasks in May this year to resolve public complaints.
These initiatives encompassed a wide range of activities, including repairing sewerage lines, restoring water supply lines, fixing street lights, covering manholes, cleaning and repairing streets and roads, and maintaining water filtration plants to ensure clean drinking water for the local population. The total expenditure for these activities amounted to Rs.1,78,77,91,247, with 363 requests being successfully processed after the involvement of the ombudsman’s office.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the spokesman of the Office of the Ombudsman Punjab highlighted the financial breakdown of the spent funds.
While giving details, he said that this includes Rs.2,27,68,783 for 26 requests related to sewerage lines restoration, Rs.7,01,623 for 84 demands regarding manhole covers, Rs.4,38,200 for 29 requests for garbage collection and cleaning areas in different districts, Rs.1,74,68,99,499 for 26 requests for roads repair and maintenance, Rs.42,74,996 for 35 requests for water filtration plants repair & maintenance. Furthermore, Rs.1,22,33,146 was spent to resolve 11 complaints related to water supply lines repair, while 152 complaints regarding street lights repair and restoration were addressed by the concerned administration, incurring an expenditure of Rs.4,75000, the spokesman added.
The spokesman expressed contentment with the prompt resolution of public grievances facilitated by the intervention of the Office of the Ombudsman Punjab.
