Access to information important for healthy, learned & civilized societies: Imran Khan

QUETTA: The Secretary Information, Imran Khan has stated that access to information is important for the healthy, learned and civilized societies as transparency and governance can be improved through it.
He insisted that every individual has the right to information and this is also beauty of democracy.
The Secretary Information was expressing views at the consultative meeting on enforcement of Access to Information Act in Balochistan here on Thursday.
The constitution meeting was arranged by the National Endowment for Democracy.
The Director General Public Relations, Muhammad Noor Khetran, Directors of Public Relations, Syed Tanveer Akhtar, Saeed Ahmed Shahwani, Deputy Director Syed Jaffar Shah, Assistant Directors Taimur Kakar, Manzoor Ahmed Magsi and Abdul Bari Mandokhail also attended.
The Secretary Information appreciated the advocacy campaign launched by NED on the Right to Information Act.
He said that the enforcement of laws about right to information can be helpful in sustainable development and building strong institutions besides public welfare.
He mentioned that Right to Information was enforced in 2021 in Balochistan. The Information commission has been formed in federation and other provinces, however effective steps are being taken for formation of Information commission in Balochistan as well, the Secretary Information mentioned adding that Chief Information Commissioner and Information Commissioners would be appointed soon.
