A HIGH-LEVEL MEETING WAS HELD IN MINISTRY OF COMMUNICATION CHAIRED BY THE FEDERAL SECRETARY FOR COMMUNICATIONS, ALI SHER MEHSUD, AND IG, NHMP SALMAN CHAUDHRY.
A high-level meeting, chaired by the Federal Secretary for Communications, Ali Sher Mehsud, and IG, NHMP Salman Chaudhry was held in the Committee Room of Ministry of Communications, Islamabad. The senior officers from the National Highways & Motorway Police also present in the meeting. The meeting focused on the implementation of a 100% Axle Load Control Regime (ALCR) on Motorways and Highways. Secretary Ali Sher Mehsud emphasized the need to enforce the 100% Axle Load Control Regime rigorously to save valuable roads and the lives of commuters. He directed that no concessions will be made to any transporters regarding overloading. Overloaded vehicles are to be strictly prohibited from entering Motorways and Highways. This measure is essential to ensure the safety and longevity of the road infrastructure. On this occasion, IG Salman Chaudhry said that special squads have been formed led by Additional Inspectors General to ensure the effective implementation of the Axle Load Control Regime. Zonal and Sector commanders are actively engaged in surprise inspections and monitoring to ensure compliance with the ALCR. Overweight vehicles are being redirected to weigh stations on national highways, where they are either unloaded or sent back with heavy fines. Strict legal actions are being taken against those violating the load regulations. IG Salman Chaudhry reiterated commitment to eradicating overloading completely, highlighting the importance of preserving the road infrastructure and safety of human lives.
