Ongoing negotiations between the Punjab government and sugar mills owners on the price of sugar for the last three consecutive days have turned out successful. A delegation of sugar mills owners met with the Caretaker CM Mohsin Naqvi in this regard.It was agreed during the meeting that sugar mills owners will sell sugar to the Punjab government at rupees 140/ kg.CM Mohsin Naqvi while talking on this occasion said that the Punjab government in order to provide relief to the people will sell sugar at special centres, model bazaars and at special stalls in the Sunday bazaars. Mohsin Naqvi stressed that we are fully concerned and aware about the difficulties of masses adding that people of the province will be directly benefited with the reduction in sugar prices It was agreed during the meeting to launch the crushing season from 28th October.The delegation of sugar mills owners while giving a briefing to CM Mohsin Naqvi apprised that a surplus stock of sugar is available in Punjab and sugar exceeding its need is available in Punjab. The delegation of sugar mills owners comprised Haroon Akhtar, Zaka Ashraf, Fawad Mukhtar and others. Provincial Minister for Industries SM Tanveer and Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman were also present on the occasion.
