PROVINCIAL MINISTER INITIATES PLANS FOR MEAT ZONE IN CHOLISTAN, BOOSTING LIVESTOCK PROSPECTS”

Lahore, : A significant gathering took place to discuss the establishment of a dedicated meat zone in Cholistan, presided over by the Provincial Minister of Livestock, Transport, Mines and Minerals, Ibrahim Murad. During the meeting, Minister Ibrahim Murad highlighted that the expansive region of Cholistan in South Punjab spans over 66 million acres across three districts. The government’s proactive efforts are focused on creating a specialized meat zone within Cholistan to drive growth in the livestock sector.

Ibrahim Murad emphasized the necessity of preparing a comprehensive feasibility report to facilitate the establishment of the proposed meat zone in Cholistan. He underscored the potential of boosting Pakistan’s economy through heightened exports of livestock-related products. Encouragingly, the Livestock Department is already engaged in initiatives to enhance animal breeding and rearing practices. Complementary to these efforts, opportunities for public-private partnerships in the development of livestock farms are being explored.

Noteworthy attendees at the meeting included Secretary of the Livestock Department, Anwar Masood, Secretary of Livestock Department for South Punjab, Asif Jamal, as well as representatives from the Cholistan Development Authority and other Officers.
