Interior Minister and ICCPO lauds elaborate security measures during Muharram-ul-Harram

The Interior Minister, Rana Sanaullah Khan, and Islamabad Capital City Police Officer (ICCPO), Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan, lauded the performance of the officers and officials of the Islamabad Capital Police for their commendable efforts in ensuring foolproof security arrangements during Ashura Muharram-ul-Haram in the federal capital, a police public relations officer said.

He said that, the ICCPO. Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan lauded the exemplary performance of CPO Operations, SSP Operations, all DPOs, traffic staff, officers, and officials for their vigilant efforts in maintaining law and order during the Muharram-ul-Haram processions.

ICCPO Dr Akbar Nasir Khan said that, thanks to the meticulous planning and coordination, no untoward incident occurred in the city during the processions. The heavy contingent of police cordoned off all the processions, and the security plan was diligently followed.

The officers, including DPOs, SDPOs, Incharge Police Stations, and other police personnel, personally visited the procession routes, ensuring effective coordination and guidance to ensure a safe environment.

He expressed his satisfaction with the implementation of security measures, which involved close coordination with peace committees, congregation and procession organizers. The cooperation between the police and law enforcement agencies, as well as the use of metal detectors and other technical resources to check participants, contributed to the peaceful conduct of all Muharram-related events.

He further said that, the Quick Response Force remained on high alert to handle any emergencies, and the safe city surveillance cameras meticulously monitored all procession routes. The bomb disposal squad conducted thorough checks with the latest technology, assuring the safety and security of the participants.

ICCPO Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan reiterated the commitment of Islamabad Capital Police to maintain law and order in the federal capital, ensuring the protection of citizens’ lives and properties. He assured that any elements attempting to disrupt the peace of the citizens would not be allowed to prevail.

Search and Combing Operation conducted at Sabzi Mandi, Secretariat, Tarnol and Sangjani Police Stations jurisdiction

According to details, Islamabad Capital Police Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) conducted a search and combing operation at Tarnol, Sabzi Mandi, Secretariat and Sangjani Police Station jurisdiction, a Police public relations officer said.

He said that, following the special directives to Islamabad Capital City Police Officer (ICCPO) Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan, the search and combing operations are being conducted in different areas of the city to ensure the safety and security of the Islamabad citizens.

Following these orders, a search and combing operation was conducted in different areas of Tarnol, Sabzi Mandi, Secretariat and Sangjani Police Stations jurisdiction by CTD, FC, local police and other law enforcement agencies teams under the supervision of SP CTD.

During the search and combing operation 205 houses, 79 vehicles, 55 Motorcycles, 107 shops, 10 hotels and 430 suspicious individuals were checked, while 63 suspicious individuals and 10 motorbikes were shifted to the police station for verification purpose.

The ICCPO Islamabad Dr Akbar Nasir Khan said that the purpose of the search and combing operations was to heighten the security in the federal capital. All zonal officers were directed to continue these operations in their respective areas. Citizens are also requested to cooperate with police teams during the checking.

The Islamabad Capital Police is actively engaged in ensuring the safety and security of the city’s residents. If any citizen has information regarding any suspicious activity they are requested to report it to the nearest Police station or at Police helpline “Pukar-15,” he added.
