LAHORE, July 13:

Director General Agriculture (Pest Warning and Quality Control of Pesticides), Punjab Rana Faqir Ahmad has said that under directions of Chief Minister, Punjab, the teams of Pest Warning are involved in crackdown against the elements involved in the business of counterfeits pesticides .Operations are being carried out across the province. He further added that pest warning teams have analysed more than 9,600 samples of pesticides from the last year till now, out of which 286 samples were found to be substandard. 617 raids were conducted and 750 cases were registered against the people involved in this heinous trade , out of them, 254 people were arrested and a total of adulterated pesticides worth more than 425.10 million rupees were seized. Director General Agriculture (Pest Warning) Rana Faqir Ahmad further said that the mafia selling fake agricultural inputs is being dealt with with iron hands and the people involved in this heinous business are being punished as per the law. The principle of zero-tolerance policy is being followed against those people and all possible actions are being taken to stop this business and those involved in this crime are being brought to justice. He added that People can register their complaints against those elements selling fake agricultural inputs at the local office of Agriculture Department, the concerned police station or the district administration or by calling phone number 042-99202153 during office hours. Action is being done within 24 hours after receiving the information against all such elements. He said that the people involved in this crime can be punished with 3 years of imprisonment and a fine of up to Rs. 0.5 million rupees under the law.
