QUETTA: The Balochistan Assembly approved the budget for next financial year having total outlay of over Rs. 724 billion in its session here on Monday.
The Provincial Minister for Finance, Engineer Zamarak Khan Achakzai tabled the budget while the Speaker, Mir Jan Muhammad Jamali was in the chair.
Winding the debate on budget, the Minister Finance said that it is an honour for him to present a balanced budget for the upcoming fiscal year.
He said that we can implement the budget within one and half month, if the due amount is received from the federation.
He also said that we can also leave good budget for the next government even. Mr. Achakzai mentioned that we have urged the federation to help us in the budget.
Referring the dues against PPL, the Finance Minister recalled that it (PPL) had assured us to pay the arrears within three days, however, the same are yet to be received.
Earlier, no motion was presented by the opposition in the session about deduction in the budget.
Speaking in the house, the leader of Opposition Malik Sikandar Khan Advocate said that the economic condition of the country is not better. He said that the country is being blackmailed through IMF. He also said that the federal government is not extending financial assistance to the province, and in these circumstances, an appropriate budget was presented.
However, he regretfully pointed out that ours’ recommendations have not been included in the budget. We have already been giving advises about bringing good governance in the province, he maintained.
Later, the budget session was adjourned till Tuesday morning.
