QUETTA: In a crucial development, the Balochistan cabinet has expressed strong reaction over establishment of the check posts at the roads and highways in the name of security checking and directed all the concerned federal and provincial security agencies to abolish the check posts immediately.
The cabinet met with the Chief Minister Mir Abdul Quddus Bizenjo in the chair at late Saturday night also decided that no institution would establish its check posts at the highways without valid permission of the provincial government in future.
As per the decision of cabinet, the establishment of check posts by the law enforcement agencies would be made conditional with permission of the provincial Home department.
It was asserted in the cabinet meeting that humiliation of the people is not acceptable at all adding that no one would be allowed to spoil the respect of the commuters whatsoever.
The cabinet regretfully observed that the women, children, patients are elderly persons travelling in the passenger coaches are forced to stop for hours at the check posts.
It was stated that it is responsibility of the government and agencies to provide security to the people.
It was urged the federal security agencies to protect the country and ensure prevention of the smuggling and narcotics while performing at the borders. But, the Customs, Coast Guard, police and levies have no authority to bother the people at the check posts.
It was pointed out that there are no check posts in the cities or at the highways in other provinces. So, there should also not be such check posts in Balochistan like other parts of the country, adding the cabinet stressed.
However, the cabinet stressed that the security agencies should carry out targeted operations against the anti-social elements.
It was clearly stated that no utilization of the check posts at the highways was seen, nor any terrorist was captured from the buses.
Meanwhile, the cabinet decided to take wholehearted action against the drugs sellers in Sariab area and other parts of Quetta.
The cabinet directed the Anti Narcotics Force and police to start quick operation against the narcotics sellers.
