MINISTER LG NASIR SHAH CHAIRED SBCA MEETING – PROPOSAL TO FORM A GOVERNING BODY & RBCA

Karachi. 12 June. Minister for Local Government Syed Nasir Shah presides a high-level meeting of Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA), in which Additional Chief Secretary Local Government Najam Ahmad Shah, DG SBCA Yasir Shar, Additional Director General SBCA Engineer Benish Shabbir and other officers participated. Nasir Shah said that the problems of the people coming for work in the Sindh Building Control Authority should be resolved immediately and work should be ensured within 15 fixed days as per the policy of the institution. He added that the SBCA officer who has any case for more than 15 days should be immediately suspended.

Minister directive that the officer who has a complaint of negligence or unnecessary harassment should be suspended and departmental action should be taken. Nasir Shah said that wherever the action takes place, there should be a complete record while the officials of the institution should be obliged to give quick relief to the people. He said that providing facilities and providing relief to the people is the vision of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. Minister Nasir Shah said that transparency is essential in SBCA to deliver to the people. The meeting deliberated on the proposal to form the governing body of SBCA and concluded that there is a lot of room for improvement in SBCA. Nasir Shah said that by improving the performance of SBCA, it will be made a people-friendly institution, it is necessary to form a governing body to solve the problems of the people and for transparency.

In the meeting, a proposal was made to form a Regional Building Control Authority (RBCA) under which a mechanism should be devised to check the work of the Building Control Authority. Minister LG told the participants of the meeting that all the proposals will be sent to the Chief Minister of Sindh and the final decision will be taken after the approval of the Chief Minister of Sindh. Nasir Shah said that measures should be completed regarding the existing damaged buildings in the city and one-window operation of SBCA should be ensured for the convenience of the people.
