Islamabad, December 3, 2024: The Chairman of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting, Syed Aminul Haque, has directed the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and PEMRA to ensure that all media houses pay their employees a minimum wage of Rs 37,500.
The committee has also instructed the authorities to implement the new wage award immediately and to take action against media houses that are delaying payment of wages to journalists and media workers. Additionally, the committee has called for the elimination of the third-party contract system in media houses and an increase in the number of ITNE members to 5.
The directives were issued during an important meeting of the sub-committee held at the Parliament House in Islamabad.
