AHKNCRD-AARDO’s Regional Offices’ Collaborative One-Day National Seminar on “Climate Change: Issues, Mitigation and Adaptation”.

Islamabad – Akhtar Hameed Khan National Centre for Rural Development (AHKNCRD), Islamabad organized on day Seminar and Panel discussion at Islamabad. The title of the “Panel Discussion” was “Climate Change: Issues, Mitigation & Adaptation”. Prof. Dr. Usman Mustafa, Team Leader, PM’s National Project on Irrigation Water Channels, ME&IE Consultant, G3, Islamabad presented on “Climate Exchange and Food Security in Pakistan: Implications & Adaptations”. The other panelist were Dr. Syed Mahmood Nasir, Adviser, Carbon Offset Project; Former Inspector General of Forests, M/o Climate Change presented on “Key Concepts vis-à-vis Global and Local perspective on Climate Change”. Brig. (R) Fiaz Hussain Shah, Chairman, Integrated Resilience Network, Islamabad presented entitled “Nexus of Climate Change and Disasters in Pakistan” and Dr. Muhammad Irfan Khan, Dean, Faculty of Basic & Applied Sciences International Islamic University, Islamabad presented on “Environmental Governance for Climate Compatible Development”.
Seminar Introduction was done by Mr. Mubasshir Zaman Khan, Deputy Director, NCRD. Welcomes address of the seminar was done by Abdul Rehman Khan Niazi, Director (Training), NCRD. Mr. Ahsan Jamil, Research Officer, NCRD introduced the AHKNCRD.There were a very large gathering consisting of all-most all sphere of business, government and private organizations, departments, academic, progressive farmers, and other Institutes. There was very good interactive section where lot of questionnaires were asked and adequate response were given by panelists.
