A new wave of clashes has broken out in the Kurram district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, resulting in the deaths of 18 people and injuring 30 others. The clashes erupted between the Ali Zai and Bagan tribes in the Lower Kurram area, with both sides exchanging heavy and automatic gunfire.¹
According to police sources, the clashes also involved other tribes, including the Balish Khel, Khar Kali, Kanj Ali Zai, and Muband tribes. The fighting has caused damage to shops and homes in the area.
As a result of the deteriorating situation, educational institutions in the Kurram district remained closed today. The clashes began on Thursday after unidentified gunmen opened fire on passenger vehicles in the area.
The incident has raised concerns about the security situation in the region, with many calling for increased measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
