Islamabad, November 21, 2024: Federal Minister for Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan Affairs, Engineer Amir Muqam, strongly condemned the firing incident on passenger vehicles in Kurram district, expressing deep sorrow over the loss of precious lives.¹
Muqam extended condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the elevated ranks of the martyred individuals and patience for their loved ones. The minister’s condemnation comes after at least 38 people were killed and 29 injured in the attack.
The incident occurred when armed men opened fire on two convoys traveling between Parachinar and Peshawar in the Kurram tribal district.² The victims included women, children, and police officers.
This attack is the latest in a series of sectarian clashes in the region, which has been plagued by tensions between armed Shia and Sunni Muslims over a land dispute.
The government has launched gft an investigation into the incident, with authorities searching for the attackers.
